Hello person on the other side of this screen. My name is Gareth and I'm very happy that you've chosen to learn more about what it is that I am trying to do and how it all came about. The idea for the Quiet Triumphs Project came, as many of my ideas do, after a very sleepless night. I had spent the last ten years writing and performing music around the world with various dance, circus and theatre performances and after a wonderful decade of exploration I began looking for a new way to share my music with whoever would choose to listen.
I've always enjoyed my music having a purpose beyond simply being heard so I dug a little deeper. I began thinking of the things that I love and want to support in my life, those being a sense of community, togetherness, charity and kindness. I then thought of the things that I don't like or would like to change, those being the negativity and fear that is constantly being fed to us by the media, the support and compliance with large corporate companies and the lack of knowledge of our own local and community based activities. So I decided to find a way using my music to help expose small organisations that focus on changing and improving their community.
Last year I chose 8 different organisation/charities/people that are improving their community in various different ways around Wales. I then filmed and recorded a song in each location and documented the incredible ways in which they are working. Each video was released as an episode (view the episodes here) with the aim of encouraging support towards positive, local based change and togetherness within a community.
I have met some truly incredible people who have taken it upon themselves to improve the lives of others around them and I will continue to share their Quiet Triumphs with you in any way that I can. So have a gander, get involved and enjoy!
